Ik moest en zou naar het concert van Katy Perry in Ziggo Dome. Koste wat kost. En ja, dat kostte nogal wat. Maar gelukkig wist ik vriendje te overtuigen en kochten we twee staanplaatsen voor misschien nu al het allermooiste en allerbeste concert van dit jaar. Want wie gaat deze show nog overtreffen?!

De tickets bestelden we maanden, maanden, maanden geleden al. We moesten nog zó lang wachten, maar ik vond het een mooi pre-birthday cadeau – én feestje – om een week voor mijn verjaardag naar onze achterburen (lees: Ziggo Dome) te gaan.

Toen ik op Rock Werchter klaar stond om met Red Hot Chili Peppers mee te springen en zingen, bedacht ik mij dat ik al best een oude rocker ben. En nee, dat zeg ik niet omdat ik inmiddels een bejaarde leeftijd heb bereikt, maar wél omdat ik de afgelopen jaren ontelbare bands live heb mogen aanschouwen. Een leven zonder concerten of festivals zou ik mij dan ook niet meer voor kunnen stellen. Jij wel?

Festival Fever
Rock Werchter, Pinkpop, Dijkpop en Lowlands, maar ook Paradiso, de Melkweg en Heineken Music Hall zijn voor mij bekend terrein. Sinds ik de festivalkoorts te pakken heb, gooi ik jaarlijks de auto vol om richting het Zuiden Des Lands te rijden. Daarnaast zijn er van die muzikanten die je niet alleen op een festival – en graag langer dan dat kleine uurtje – wilt zien. Zo staan Muse en Florence + The Machine dit najaar op het programma (en dan ook gelijk in onderstaande top vijf van meest geziene bands).

Wishlist
Natuurlijk heb ik daarnaast ook nog een verlanglijstje aan muzikanten die ik nog zou willen zien, zoals Lady Gaga, Shakira, Beyoncé, Birdy, Alicia Keys en Adele. Stiekem zou ik aan dit lijstje ook de Spice Girls toevoegen, maar dat zit er denk ik niet meer in. Zal ik dan maar een enkeltje richting Londen boeken om de musical Viva Forever! te aanschouwen? Dan blijf ik daar gelijk wonen, zodat ik in Round House de meest geweldige concerten kan zien en deze kan toevoegen aan onderstaande ellenlange lijst.

Coldplay. Dé favoriete band van mijn vader. En inmiddels ook die van mij. Na het grote feest in het Goffertpark (en hun sublieme optreden op Rock Werchter), móést mijn vader de eerstvolgende keer mee als de mannen weer een concert in Nederland zouden geven. En die dag was afgelopen zaterdag…

Mijn eerste keer
Ik neem je even terug in de tijd. Naar vrijdag 3 juli 2009 om precies te zijn. Toen ik samen met vriendinnetje Crissy in het voorste vak belandde op Rock Werchter. We zagen Bloc Party van heel dichtbij. En toen was The Killers aan de beurt. Ik heb zelden zo’n fantastisch voorprogramma meegemaakt. Want – je voelt ‘m al aankomen – de afsluiter van deze intens warme festivaldag was Coldplay. Als ik toen nog niet overtuigd was van hun kunnen, dan was ik dat na afloop van dit concert wel. We konden Chris Martin bijna aanraken (en zijn gutsende zweet voelen, grapje!). Vanaf dat moment liet ik mij ook gek maken met het Coldplay-virus.

We hadden geen zomer. Geen vakantie. En geen zon. Vriendjelief en ik vonden het daarom hoog tijd om er even tussenuit te knijpen. En hoewel een luie zonvakantie in november verleidelijk zou zijn, stond Londen toch nog even hoger op ons verlanglijstje. Het werd een week vol (kerst)shoppen, de culturele toerist uithangen en heel veel (vaak lekker) eten. Get ready for part two!

“Who run the world? Girls!” zingt Beyoncé vol overgave. En ook bij het Girls first concert van Plan Nederland staan meisjes centraal. Het Java-eiland kleurde afgelopen donderdag roze en ik deed voor Ze.nl van het evenement waarin het vrouwelijke oestrogeen centraal staat.

Al vanaf de Jan Schaeferbrug is het evenemententerrein op het Java-eiland goed te zien. De toegestroomde menigte, dat zowel uit vrouwen als mannen bestaat, heeft alle roze kleding uit de kast getrokken. Partner in crime Renske en ik vallen daardoor ietwat buiten de boot, maar we krijgen gelukkig een roze keykoard met felbegeerde perskaart.

We trokken verschillende BN’ers aan hun jasje en sprintten af en toe naar de juiste van het podium om mooie plaatjes te schieten. Het volledige artikel lees je hier. Onderstaande foto’s waren een goede oefening voor mijn fotografenoog (en ik kon eindelijk weer eens knutselen met Photoshop).
